The Apostolic Writings and the Book of Enoch

The following is a compilation of quotations, allusions, and parallels between the writing of Yeshua’s Apostles, commonly referred to as the “New Testament,” and the Book of Enoch. In the spirit of academic honesty, I will note here that only one of these passages is a direct quotation. (Jude 1:14-15 quoting Enoch 1:9) Many, if not all, of the other examples show that there was definitely some degree of familiarity that Yeshua and the Apostles had with the Book of Enoch. Whether the relationship between the Apostolic Writings and the Book of Enoch is that of a direct correlation, i.e. that Yeshua and His Apostles were directly influenced by the Book of Enoch, or that of indirect familiarity, i.e. that Yeshua and His Apostles were familiar with a third party source that was also familiar with the Book of Enoch, remains the subject of speculation.

    • Matthew 22:29-30 is by far the strongest cae for Enoch as being scripture. Jude also calls Enoch prophecy. Enoch is used quite abit in the New Testament which is amazing because there are many books never referenced at all outside their respected writings such as Esther, Song of Songs, Lamentations and many others.
